"The nicest thing anyone has ever done for me was..."

There have been a lot of nice things that people have done for me during my life, and I really think that is a blessing. The one that comes to my mind has to do with something a complete stranger did for me. I had just finished my B.A., and I went to Panama city to check that my grades papers were in order. To my despair, my thesis defense act was not there yet, so I was not allowed to pay for my diploma. I was so sad, and I had to go to the bathroom in order to collect myself and stop crying. When I was about to leave the building, I found the director of the university, and I told him my problem. He advised me to talk to the coordinator of the Regional Centers to see what he could do for me. That man was an angel in disguise, he helped me with all the paperwork, and I was able to pay my diploma. I was so thankful to God to find those two special people that day. I traveled back to Santiago with a happy heart, and the believe that there are still good people on this world :)

  1. I am a very lucky person, so that I am sure many people have done nice things for me… I will tell you one of those nice things one never forgets. It was July 2008; I was at LAX airport, sat right by the gate to my final destination after Summer Break. That morning things did not work out for the best, I had lost my wallet and inside my wallet there were my debit cards, college I.D., advisor’s contact card, one hundred dollars cash, and a copy of my passport. I was crying, without any form of identification the airline will never issue my tickets and I would be stuck in LA for quite a long time, maybe at the nearest cops’ office. After several minutes, a gentleman wearing a nice suit approached me to find out why I had being crying. I told him my story and nicely offered to help me out. He called my university and they faxed a copy with my info and picture. In about one hour I had booked a new flight and because of all the inconvenient events they issued me a Business class seat. I did not have to wait in line and I got a nice free dinner. But that was not all; I also got a free shuttle ride to campus, and a month after, the police returned my wallet. I did not get my cash back but my debit and I.D.cards were in the wallet. That day, that gentleman saved my life, and I will always be thankful.

  2. Thinking on someone that has made something nice for you can be a little difficult. There were always some people that have done nice things for me, but looking for a benefit. I must admit that there is one person that in hard, sad moment or in the middle of the storm has remained by my side. There was this stage of my life, beginning my college life, when I felt like everything was going worse, like I had just problems, and there was no calm in my life. That moment marked a new beginning in my life. That person is Jesus Christ and when he showed me I don’t have to worry because he is with me supporting in whatever instant I need him to, I felt so rewarded. It is an incredible relief to know that there is a person, no matter who you are, that just wants to help you be a better being day by day. It is just a matter of believing and being faithful.

  3. Wow Jiniva, that was quite a story, I really believe that those things that strangers do for us, are the best, simply because in my opinion, it's like God's angels in disguise. You can expect good things coming from family and friends, but when a stranger does something nice for us, it's like there is still hope for this world. Just imagine!!! what a huge favor, and everything turned out to your advantage. I always say that there are things that at first look really bad, but with the time, the turned out in something positive. Thanks for sharing your story :)

  5. Well, it was when, I was in my High School, I was Living without family in a big house, without money and meals, 2007 << It was the year when I got my diploma, but the only trouble was that nobody went to my graduation 'cause my Mom said "Hey i can't come to your graduation because I have to work <.<" then my Dad Said "Hey you, I won't go to your graduation, because your stepfather will go and I prefer to be in my home" My loneliness was big. Finally, i went alone to my graduation, My friends created to me a secret party and they paid everything, also they went to my graduation. It's been something that I won't forget. I'm 20 years, my friend too, "We've known about 19 years"

  7. Mayerling, You are definitely right, Jesus is the one that do so many beautiful things for us every single day and it's by our side whenever we need him the most. What about something nice done by a person?

  8. I agree with you, professor Eva. I was just thinking "OMG Orientation Day starts tomorrow, I will miss the trainning at the radio station, my advisor will kill me, and it would not be a good idea to call home because my parents cannot help this time and I will just make them worry." But at the end things worked out for the best.
Miguel, it is a pity that sometimes the people we love the most, our family do not appreciate the good things we do. Graduating is such a big event but it is nice to know that those people we call our friends are there to get our backs and be supportive when we need them.
Finally, Mayerling! Yeah I second professor Eva, how about something a strange or close friend has done for you?

  11. Well.... my story happened at the Luis Chicho Fabrega Hospital. I gave birth to my baby two years ago by cesarean and I was very happy, but when the anesthesia passed, and after ten hours I felt a lot pain up to I cried, because I had that stand up me (at 8:00 pm)for to go the restroom. The problem was that I was alone at 8:00 pm without some assistant near. I had a lot pain. I though so much this situation...Suddenly, a nurse appears for help me,but I didn't met her, then she took my hands and told me: "Goahead, you can do it", then First, I sat on the bed and I didn't feel pain, after she told me: "Now, you are going to stand up.". Then she hugged and helped me to go the restroom, because I had taken a bath and after she injected me a analgesic; and I really felt much better. Since that day she and me did a beautiful friendship. Her name is Yamileth and is a good professional.
It is very difficult when you are alone and you can't do for yourself single somethings as to take a bath, but I am sure that always appears a person for help us....Thanks

  12. The last year when I was working in Penonome as a grade teacher, I had to travel every friday from there to Santiago and I had and I wanted to save some dollars because the life cost is very high. I always took an Panama-Aguadulce bus, then that day was raining and it was cold also the bus has turn the air conditioned, for this reason I had to put my overcoat because I was cold . But the most important of this was that I only had two week to bought a new cellphonethe cost was 3 hundred dollars and I put them in the pocket to my overcoat but I never thought that this to went out to my pocket and to fell in the bus floor.
I don't listened anything and the bus eas arriving to Aguadulce and I had to lower me in La Tablita bus stop, when I lowered me, I put my hand in my pocket and I realized that my cellphone isn't in.
I took a taxi and said to the driver that I had to find an Penonome-Aguadulce bus I don't remembered that the bus was Panama-Aguadulce and the driver carried me to the Penonome-Aguadulce bus station but I never can find that bus there because it isn't arrived at that station and the driver said: "Are you shure that the bus was from Penonome-Aguadulce I told him, yes man. Then he drove through the Aguadulce's streets and the driver told me again: "I don't believed that the bus was Penonome-Aguadulce because we had to find in the bus station and it isn't there for this reason that bus had to be from Panama-Aguadulce but I wasvery worried and nervous and I can't thought Where was the bus? but I remembered some descriptions about the bus and I told him and he told me "Ok that descriptions are about the bus from Panama-Aguadulce, I know where they arrive" He drove his taxi toward a gas station because he told me that they arrived there and so that there was the bus and I opened the taxi door and ran toward the bus and attained to see to the driver assistand with my cellphone in his hands and listened to music, I don't believed that moment and I was thinking what can I told him?
I pushed the bus door and told him: "Excuse me That is my cellphone I am teacher in penonome, I am from Santiago and my family is waiting for me there, is very late and I have to arrive to Santiago in an hour because I have classes at the university and I don't have much money for this reason I was traveling in this bus and I lost my cellphone I want to recover them and continue traveling to Santiago.
How many dollars do you want? The driver asistand told me nothing; and I told him "nothing" and he told me again nothing, this is your. And I told them, because the bus driver also was there: "Thank you, thanks a lot that God take care and bless you! Bye that have a nice day and they told me: you too and have a good travel.
Then the taxi driver carried me to La Tablita bus stop and only collected me 5 dollar.
When I took the Aguadulce-Santiago bus I was crying because I don't believed that experience in this earth still exist in similars situations honesty, kind, sincere and good people.

  14. The nicest thing someone has done for me

There´s a lot of people who has done good things for me. But there´s one person who has done the nicest thing for me.
When I met Milvia, we became good partners. We were in the same classroom for three years until we graduated.
The last year I had many obstacles, and I received help at home. But, in the school, the only one who offered me a true friendship and comprehension, was Milvia, because I told her my problems and she listened me and adviced me
